How To Style a Dress As A Reflection of You

This dress was meant to be “bohemian” It is advertised in the Lovestitch catalogue on the beach and the model (likely in her early 20’s) is barefoot, wearing a hat and a carefree smile. While I could have styled it like that, this is not how I would imagine wearing this dress. So when it arrived, I tried it on and then got to “work.” I styled it in the way that is most comfortable for me to wear. The light denim color and turquoise and green colors drew me to an embellished light denim sandal. It immediately elevated the dress and what followed were accessories that supported this look, which is really my personal style. Recognizing your personal style is key to how you wear your clothes, but more importantly how yoiu feel in your clothes.

The Rio Maxi Wrap Dress, now on sale for $29.00
Adding a crystal hair clip, chic sunglasses, a vintage Chanel bag, delicate jewelry and high dressy sandals.

Given the proce of designer bags, it’s always worth visiting vintage or resale boutiques and websites, which is where I found this one. Ones to check out include The Real Real, Rebag, Decades, What Goes Around.
I added a vintage hair clip as a way of trying something new. It felt great to step out of my comfort zone of wearing my hair the same way.

It’s fun to step out of one’s comfort zone, but it is not easy for everyone to do. First and foremost , you must know what your personal style is. It’s a pattern; it’s how you dress when you’re being casual and what you wear when you dress up. That will guide you when you style your clothes.

This situation we find ourselves in re attitudes towards the Israel and Gaza war is not helped by the lack of available information. I am gifted to have a son, daughter in law (and two dear young grandsons) who help me with information and explanations that are not available in the newspaper or other media.
Understanding Hamas and their aim to kill all Jews at any cost truly is beyond many of us.
Honestly, I fear for my grandsons. They are dear little boys and have a loving peaceful family. Here I must add that I am grateful for the guard at the older boy’s school. Yes, I live in the United States.
Many years ago I watched men in white sheets parade around a Temple. It was stunning. This happened in a middle class neighborhood in a Rocky MT city. Some of the onlookers had tattoos from their horrid experience in Germany. They were comforting each other to simply be present. A haunting memory for me that was never covered by the media.
So, hate is alive and well.
I can also bring up that I believe that there have been missteps and grievous errors by both sides. The death of so many children is sad sobering and unforgivable. All these casualties of war deeply saddens my heart.
My personal hopes are that this little family of mine can continue on living their lives safely. That people will read and listen and educate themselves towards understanding this complicated situation. That somehow a maintain ed truce is possible.
Please forgive any spelling and grammar errors.

    • Thank you Marilyn. I agree that this situation has become untenable and there are errors on both sides. But we must stay strong and continue to try to fight antisemitism at every level and in any way we can.I will be in Israel next week not only to bear witness to the October 7 massacre, but to show our Israeli brothers an sisters that we support and care about them. I will be reporting back next week. Please stay safe and be well. XOXO
      Am Yisrael Chai
