I love an article of clothing that will multitask, and this long white linen dress by Theory does just that! At first I hemmed and hawed, not sure that I would ever wear it as either a dress or a coat. But it was so drastically reduced in price that I decided to go for it and make it work. I am someone who does not follow archaic fashion rules, like not wearing white after Labor Day, and I suggest you do the same. This way you do not have to retire your summer clothes when the temps are still sweltering and you can open this dress and wear it as a coat, right through September. I love the raw hem of these slightly flared and boot cut jeans by Frame. They are different from my usual skinnies or cropped flares, and when I wear them with a heel, they elongate my leg.
Now onto the earrings. Whenever I travel, I love to return home with a little something that will always remind me of the place we visited. In the case of my necklace and earrings, both were purchased in Greece two years ago. The necklace is from a cute store, but I cannot remember the name, on the island of Milos. As I recall, there were only a few stores on that island, so if you visit it, and I highly recommend that you do, you are likely to come upon the store where I found this very inexpensive necklace… thirty dollars. The gold earrings were from a fabulous store on the island of Santorini, called Under A Fig Tree. A visit to both this island and the store is a must!
I added a brown belt and handbag to bring a little edge and rustic flavor to the outfit when wearing the dress as an open coat. When wearing it as a dress, I kept it all simple by using the rope tie instead of replacing it with a flashier belt. I think it works well that way.
If you are like me, you’re a multitasker… so why shouldn’t your clothes do the same?!
