Just as I am a classically trained singer who likes to sing pop and jazz, I am also a classic dresser who tends to gravitate toward modern and edgy. This outfit exemplifies my taste perfectly. First off, I love the look of black and cream together, as they are “classic” colors that need not be over thought. Once I decided to create an outfit entirely from these two hues, I decided not to add any other color to this duo. I kept the jewelry understated and classic with pearl earrings to match the pearl buttons on this fabulous blouse. But these “tribal” earrings, which were so trendy when they first appeared on the Dior runways and then knocked off by many other companies, are also simultaneously classic and edgy. I could have chosen to wear classic black trousers, but instead opted for these cropped leather jeans as a way of keeping the outfit modern. To quote Shakespeare, “to thine own self be true.” That is how I live my life in general, and certainly, my style… classic with a twist of modern.
I love how you describe it like this, Lesley!! It’s that mixing it up that I find SO fun nowadays!!
