I think I was in a very “seventies” mood when I created this outfit. I was immediately drawn to this corduroy jacket by Cabi when it presented itself during their fall campaign. I have had these Theory pants for over a year and now they are on sale at both Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off 5th. I purposely bought them loose so that they would feel more like a trouser. This belt is so old that I honestly don’t remember the Marni dress it went with. I sold the dress years ago without the belt! I hung onto it because it is neutral and still goes with everything. These booties by Stuart Weitzman are one of the most comfortable pairs I own. I loved them so much that I bought them in white. Their neutral color goes with almost everything and illusively disappears so that when you match them with a burgundy handbag, as I did with my fave Fendi bag, they gladly take a back seat.
I cannot say enough good things about my dear friend Robin Terman’s delicate and beautiful jewelry. I layered as many of her pieces in rose gold that I could find. I love to pair rose gold with beige and burgundy. It is rich and warm, and a wonderful alternative to yellow gold. It also pairs nicely with white, gold or silver.
And last but certainly not least is the invaluable, indispensable, can’t live without you, “white blouse.” This should be a staple in everyone’s closet. The white blouse goes with everything from jeans to ballgowns, as Sharon Stone proved at the 1998 Oscars. It is a neutral that inevitably steals the show. I own several of them in various lengths and fabrics and find myself reaching for one more often than not. When in doubt, just add a white blouse. You can’t go wrong.
I just adore you and your style, Lesley!! Of course I love everything about this, but especially that thingy on your purse. What do you call it??
XOXO
